Stonewood Partnerships join line-up of top developers on government’s financier’s preferred list

Stonewood Partnerships has been invited on to a panel of preferred developers by Homes England as part of a revolutionary new approach to the way it disposes of land.

Homes England, the government’s housing financier, launched the Delivery Partner Dynamic Purchasing System, which will simplify the way it disposes of land for building new homes.

Stonewood applied, and was accepted, to become one of a select group of pre-approved developers who will be offered the opportunity to bid for sites when they become available.

Land director James Petherick said the company’s track record on delivering quality, sustainable homes was a factor in it being chosen. Homes England has been a partner in the project to build 44 new homes and create 100 work units at the historic Tannery site in Holt, in Wiltshire, which is also being undertaken by sister company Stonewood Builders.

“I’m very pleased we are sitting on a panel that allows us to tender for Homes England land disposals,” he said. “Given our funding relationship with Homes England it would be remiss of us not to be on it.

“It’s wonderful for us to be there alongside major PLC housebuilders and big contractors, it’s a vote of confidence in our ability to deliver great projects.”

Last month Stonewood was chosen as one of just five partners in the £300 million Housing Growth Partnership’s new Regional Growth Initiative, which is underwritten by Lloyds Bank and Homes England.

“This latest news, coming so soon after the Regional Growth Initiative, gives us great confidence that we are doing the right thing and moving in the right direction. We’ve had a really good run of good faith shown in us,” said Mr Petherick.

Stonewood Partnerships is close to completion on its first site Somerbrook, a 38-home neighbourhood at Great Somerford in Wiltshire and two-thirds of the way through The Tannery. Work has also begun in earnest at the 88-home sustainable development, Orchard Field at Siddington in Gloucestershire.

Access to the Regional Growth Initiative will boost the company’s plans to expand further down the M5 corridor, with targets to use the new money to acquire up to two new sites before the end of the year.
