A New Chapter for Healthcare in Tetbury: Breaking Ground at Worwell Rise
On 21st November, we proudly broke ground on Tetbury’s brand-new GP surgery, a £5 million project that will transform local healthcare. The event brought together doctors from the Phoenix Health Group, contractors, local councillors, and our MP, alongside Sam Smart (Managing Director) and James Petherick (Land Director) from Stonewood Homes.
This milestone is the result of persistence and incredible local support. The new facility will feature 16 consulting rooms, modern reception areas, and improved accessibility, serving over 10,000 patients. Completion is expected in the second half of 2026.
Dr Angus McMyn, GP Partner at Phoenix Health Group, said:
“We are really pleased that work on our new surgery at Worwell Farm is finally getting underway and are very much looking forward to watching the building take shape over the coming months. We have been working hard with our development partner Stonewood Homes Ltd to construct an attractive, modern, environmentally friendly building that is accessible to our patients and creates positive impacts on the surrounding natural environment.”
Helen Goodey, Director of Primary Care and Place at NHS Gloucestershire, added:
“Plans for a new GP surgery in Tetbury have been a key priority for NHS Gloucestershire since 2016 and it has been particularly challenging to identify a suitable and affordable site. We are delighted that building work at Worwell Farm is starting.”
And from our own team, James Petherick, Land Director at Stonewood Homes, shared:
“We are extremely pleased to commence work on this important new infrastructure project for the town. A huge amount of work has gone into reaching this milestone and I would like to thank the Phoenix Health Group, Assura and NHS Gloucestershire as well as Geoff Turbott, the landowner. We look forward to progressing the build, alongside the development of 27 high-quality homes.”
